Creativity can be an elusive term. However, in a nutshell, it is the ability to use knowledge and skills, and importantly, imagination, to tackle and solve problems or express ideas or feelings in ways that are new or different, and intentional (Cook & Cook 2005). It is about taking risks and being actively involved in the learning process.
The resources in this category provide a framework in which children can use their imagination to think and move creatively. They aim to provide early childhood educators and parents with a treasure trove of practical activities and resources to help develop children’s literacy, expression, and creativity through the arts.
In the Stepping Stones series, each book focuses on a different area of the arts, which is explored through forty of the most popular early years topics. While the focus of these books is for children three to five years of age, the activities will be enjoyed by older children and can be adapted for infants and toddlers.
