Discovering Aotearoa New Zealand - Yrs 1-3: Bk 1

Who we are

Are you searching for a resource that inspires and supports our youngest New Zealanders to learn more about Aotearoa history and society and see its relevance to their own lives? Look no further than the Discovering Aotearoa New Zealand series.

In completing the activities on the people of Aotearoa New Zealand in the past and present, and how we are connected to each other, ākonga become more aware of their own sense of identity. Importantly, the activities also develop inquiry and analytical skills that ākonga need to tackle societal challenges in the future.

This primary school resource supports those in Years 1 to 3 to explore their identity, their relationship to where they live and Aotearoa New Zealand's diverse cultures. It offers imaginative activities in the social sciences learning area that also develop reading and writing skills.
